Assessments
Office Ergonomic and Rehabilitation Assessments
The process of an assessment involves:
- Interviewing the worker to learn about their physical concerns
- Observing the worker to see how their body is used
- Teaching the worker how to use their body
- Helping the worker adjust the work station
- Explaining to the worker the recommendations so they understand
- Reporting observations, instructions and recommendations
All office assessment fees include time on site for the assessment and individualized training, a
detailed report and follow-up visit (in person or by telephone) if requested.
Individual Assessment @ $275
Group Assessments @ $215/assessment
Minimum 2 assessments per visit to the work site please to receive this price. I have a sliding
scale for large groups (i.e. greater than 10)
Follow-up assessments must be completed within 6 months of the original assessment, must be at
the original workstation and relate to the original physical concerns. Working at a new workstation
constitutes a new assessment. Delayed follow-up assessments will be charged at $135/hour.
The report prepared will note the existing workstation equipment and postures used by the worker.
Information about correct working postures is provided in each report and detailed recommendations
for changes to use of the existing equipment, supplementation of or modifications to existing
equipment or purchase of new equipment are included. Examples of suitable products are attached to
the report.
Office Audit
An audit is a simpler version of the Ergonomic Assessment and takes approximately 30 minutes per
person. To receive an audit, the participants must have attended (at a minimum) the "Basic Rules of
Office Ergonomics" training session. Subsequent to their attendance, each person receives
personalized training on their furniture and equipment. Any improvements to the workstations are
reported in a table format report. The initial training session costs $225. Each worker involved in the
audit costs $100.
Industrial Consulting
While back injuries among industrial workers are the leading source of lost time claims, the cause may not simply be a factor of the mass of the load being lifted. Repetitive Strain Injuries associated with hand and arm activities and tool use are the second highest source of lost time injuries.
The postures involved, the duration of the activity, the tools available, and many other factors create an opportunity for injury. Industrial assessments explore why the task is done a particular way, as well as how to improve the task so that workers are at less risk of injury. Productivity and efficiency improvements are a pleasant by-product!
$135 / hour on site to a maximum of $1000 per day.
$110 / hour report generation.
