Office Work Station Assessment Training (OWSAT)
Courses are offered in the spring of each year.
This is a train-the-trainer approach which takes place over 3 days. On completion of the course, participants will be able to assist their co-workers to set up a work station, provide instruction on correct working postures and make appropriate purchase decisions.

Goals:
On completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Perform basic office work station assessments.
- Inform co-workers about proper posture and work station set-up.
- Make good purchaing decisions.
Cost:
$495 plus GST (includes lunches and manual)
Early Registration (payment must be received before September 22): $445 plus GST

Details:
Day 1 - November 2
- How the body works - the basics of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics
- Postures to protect against Repetitive Stress Injuries
- Setting up a work station
- Guest speaker on the effect of diet on alertness and productivity
Day 2 - November 3
- Bifocals and the aging workforce
- How to do a basic work station assessment
- Creating your own assessment tool
- Guest speaker on indoor environments (air quality, radiation, etc.)
Day 3 - November 23 (three weeks later)
- Feedback from the other participants and the instructor on the assessment you did
- Evaluate products and develop purchasing guidelines
- Guest speaker on physiological effects of stress
Between Day 2 and Day 3, participants will use the tools developed in class to do a work station assessment. Included in the course materials will be a comprehensive reference manual which will contain overheads to provide a 15-20 minute seminar on the basic rules for setting up a computer work station. On completion of this course, participants will receive a "Certificate of Completion" of a 3 day training program on basic work station assessments provided by ErgoSum Consulting.
